Acceptable Use

What SEMRS will not produce or publish, and what we need from you in return.

Last reviewed: 7 September 2026

What we will not publish

SEMRS will not produce or run content that is illegal, promotes illegal or counterfeit goods, weapons, hate or discrimination, or that makes claims we believe are deceptive. This holds even where a client asks for it and supplies the wording. We will say so and propose an alternative rather than run it.

Claims must be substantiable

Any factual or performance claim in your marketing must be something you can support if challenged. We do not publish invented statistics, fabricated reviews or testimonials, or results presented as typical when they are not.

Targeting

We do not target, or imply targeting, by race, religion, sexual orientation, health status or financial status. Where a category is restricted by a platform — alcohol, gambling, healthcare, financial services, political or social-issue advertising, or the housing, employment and credit special categories — we will tell you what authorisation or disclosure you need before anything runs.

Search and platform rules

We will not use tactics that breach a search engine's or platform's own guidelines: paid links disguised as organic, cloaking, spun or duplicated content, or unsolicited pitches to unverified sites. If a request reads as a manipulative tactic, we flag it rather than quietly doing it.

Email and messaging

Commercial email must carry honest headers, a clear advertising disclosure, your real physical postal address and a working one-click unsubscribe. For WhatsApp, we need documented opt-in from each recipient — naming your business and the type of message — before we prepare anything to send. Opt-outs are honoured immediately. If opt-in cannot be evidenced, we will say so rather than hand you a message ready to send.

Rights in what you give us

You confirm you own or are licensed to use the logos, images, product photography, copy and testimonials you supply. We do not use copyrighted characters, branded intellectual property, or the likeness of a real identifiable person without permission — and that applies equally to anything AI-generated, which can produce a recognisable likeness by accident.

What we need from you

Accurate business information, a real physical address where email marketing is in scope, timely access grants through each platform's own mechanism, and decisions when we ask for them. Work stalls where an approval or an access grant does not arrive, and that stall is not a service failure on our side.

If we decline

Where we decline something, we say why and offer the nearest thing we can do. If that makes the engagement unworkable for you, see Refunds & Cancellation.

This page describes how SEMRS actually operates. It is written to match this system's documented practices rather than generic boilerplate, but it is not legal advice, and a qualified review is recommended before relying on it in a dispute.
